web4biz at the Systems 2008 for the eighth time in a row
from 21. - 24.10.2008, hall A2, stand 327
In hall A2, stand 327, at the Systems 2008 we presented the current version 3.6 of the web4biz Content Management System and looked back over a successful year of 2008 with customers from a range of different sectors such as Kamps bakery, Klassik Radio and Tiroler Nußöl.New website for the German Patent and Trademarks office with web4biz
The newly designed internet site went online at the end of February at www.dpma.de. The website was implemented with the web4biz content management system that was previously used at the DPMA for their intranet site. The office's internet pages were subject to visual and content-related revision, and now offer full access to people with disabilities, particularly visual disibilities, barrier-free. The clear structuring of the contents means it is possible to access the required information in a quick and uncomplicated way.
"Readers who are not fully familiar with industrial property rights benefit from these pages in the same way as specialists who have made frequent use of our internet site so far," explains Dr. Jürgen Schade, President of the German Patent and Trademarks office. "With our internet site, I am pleased to be able to offer our customers a pool of information that is both wide-ranging and well structured."
The new internet site is being accompanied by the media portal presse.dpma.de. This is where journalists can gain comprehensive information about both industrial property rights and the office itself. The portal has been supplemented with online services such as an order service for photos, registration options for press contacts and much more.
web4biz at the CeBIT 2008 and the Content Management Arena
As in 2007, we were again represented with a stand and we were present at the Content Management Arena. This time, one of our highlights was the new web4biz module for automated PDF generation for the web and pre-print stage, which was developed in collaboration with Quinscape GmbH and presented in the scope of an implemented project for the Börner Group. For the customer's website, data were merged from an enterprise resource planning system and from the existing print catalogue in compliance with the specified design guidelines, and issued as an online catalogue. This can then be printed out either in complete form or in the form of exerpts as a PDF, or used in high quality for the pre-print stage.
In addition to this, we can also show you all the innovations in our web4biz CMS and the latest projects that we have implemented.

Radio Energy gains a new look
To take a younger target group into account and above all, to address the key target group of 'girls' better, the Radio Energy website was relaunched.
The new look in bright pink, with tattoo-design inspired graphics, is very trendy and provides further scope for branded sites for advertising customers. The navigation was strongly reduced and the user operates the site in a more 'image oriented' way.

In contrast to the previous website, the individual stations are able to design the website in a more individual way. The individual cities are flexible during their selection, whether national / general news must be incorporated within the individual website or elements of the city have to be visually incorporated, etc.
The relaunch of the 2,500 sites, which are continually maintained and updated by 40 editors, occurred without the interruption of the existing internet site. The new Webmaster, Sascha Gabelmann, who has been responsible for the website since spring 2007, familiarized himself with the web4biz CMS in little time, so that it was possible for the relaunch to be completed very quickly.

web4biz and t.i.m show DIS AG the figures in detail
To be able to present the company structures, to incorporate the individual branches, and to plan the resources in an economical way, different operational systems such as PeopleSoft, additional ERP systems and a range of sector-specific applications are used. So far, these have not enabled the business data from individual groups or projects to be presented in a straightforward or clear way at the lowest level.
In this context a central, web-based business intelligence solution (BI) was required that the corresponding users (branch managers) can access via the intranet.
With the data warehouse t.i.m, the BI solution from Triangle Solutions as the central interface, and web4biz as the Content Management System, which provides and distributes the functions and contents, two solutions were used which have together proven their value in numerous similar projects.
After just four months the users (branch managers) were able to view the key business figures via the intranet and, with the help of a user-friendly control panel, to access the account transactions via the account balances. Whether balance sheets, open items, customer turnover or other key figures - management and the project managers can gain an overview of their figures quickly and in a clear format.
KWP Projekt-Vertriebs GmbH is the new technological partner of web4biz
In the context of its special solutions (enterprise resource planning), the company KWP Projekt-Vertriebs GmbH, which is also a progress partner like ic4b AG, is providing an interface for the exchange of data with web4biz.The company KWP Projekt-Vertriebs GmbH is a computer retailer which has specialized in specialist retail with the focal points of heating / sanitary systems / steel / iron / fittings / industry supplies.
The goal of the company is the production, marketing and implementation of enterprise resource planning systems on manufacturer-independent UNIX systems. The special knowledge is now being put to use in the shared project for the Börner Group. For large scale specialist retailers in the areas of building services and plant construction, in addition to the online shop, contents from the existing product catalogue and the enterprise resource planning must also be merged.

Ready for web 2.0 with AJAX
Web4biz is offering an AJAX module. To be able to implement this user-friendly technology in a programmer-friendly way, web4biz integrated the wide ranging function libraries of prize winning (2006) manufacturer Backbase. With the multi-faceted modules, complex applications can be programmed quickly and easily, with an extremely streamlined source code. In 2006, Backbase was awarded the 'Technology of the Year Award' as the number one company, AJAX Framework.
Backbase also allows for dynamic responses to user requirements as data is made available in the background in advance - depending on what the user has entered. An applicant portal asks, for instance, whether the user speaks a foreign language. If the user answers this question with a yes then they are presented with a choice of different foreign languages in a fraction of a second!
The web4biz AJAX module is ideal for complex websites with many forms, as well as for extensive enquiries and listings, such as travel, airlines, etc. through to complete applications with web interfaces. And these applications can also be equipped with tools that until recently, nobody dreamt were possible: Sortable tables, straightforward drag and drop, etc.
Automated catalogue creation for the Börner Group
The company ic4b AG was contracted with the relaunch of their website including online shop and automated catalogue creations by the Börner Group. The Börner Group is a large scale, specialist retailer in the areas of building services and systems construction with a very comprehensive range of services. The catalogue comprises approx. 60,000 items, with new ones being added every day!
Within the scope of the relaunch, the existing website is to be migrated to the web4biz content management system. The contents from the enterprise resource planning system and the existing print catalogue are to be merged for the online shop and the automated catalogue creation.
This project is being completed in collaboration with two partners: KWP Projekt Vertriebs GmbH - also a progress partner like ic4b - is responsible for importing data from their enterprise resource planning, while Quinscape GmbH is responsible for the fully automatic creation of the catalogue with its software Docsape.
The company ic4bAG is responsible for the project, who are managing the technical migration as well as the project management and coordination of the partners.
